All singer-songwriter Jesse Bartholomew needed was a bit of inspiration - not to pen a tune success, but rather to squeeze into skinny jeans.
He had worried look silly in them. But soon he noticed thin guys like him in the music scene and more muscular hip in men around the areas of Northeast Ohio using a figure-hugging clothes.
"I thought it was really hot and punk rock," said Bartholomew, 23, of Chagrin Falls, who bought his first pair two years ago. "It's the closest thing to feel naked."
Bartholomew now owns nine-tight denim and responds that it is not as constrictive as they appear. After all, he can do what divides them.
Stunts aside, the men around Northeast Ohio have taken over the skinny jeans-style, which first gained a following in the 1950s after heartthrob Elvis Presley Gyrata across the stage in tight pants and acting sensation James Dean made his now iconic tight denim with rolled cuffs.
The demand for skinny jeans disappeared in the 1990s, led the men in your living room cabinets to boot cut jeans, which were widely from the knee down as flares. However, stores across the country saw a resurgence for the style in the mid-2000s, and how-denim facility has not looked back since.
"It's really catching on with the crowd they do not expect," said Carly rowse, 23, assistant manager of American Apparel in Coventry Road, Cleveland Heights.
"Guys, wearing baggy jeans under started using skinny jeans a few years ago because he liked the colors and washes," he said. "But then ended adjustment taste, too. Men are becoming more experienced."
